One if by Land Two if by Sea....View Opener!
The Chargers opened up Sea View League play with an impressive 37-7 victory over the Aliso Niguel Wolverines. The Chargers took the opening drive and marched 67 yards on 7 plays. Dylan Reynolds went 4-4 on the drive including an 18-yard touchdown pass. On the ensuing kick-off the Chargers special teams forced a fumble and Milo Pina recovered the ball at the Wolverines 19-yard line. Two plays later the Chargers found the paint again as Connor Kentros ran it in from 10 yards out for his second touchdown on the day. Kentros banged his way across the goal line for the two-point conversion making the score 14-0. The hard hitting Chargers defense forced a safety on the next Wolverine drive to make the score 16-0. Starting the second quarter the big boys upfront simply dominated the game in the trenches. The offensive line of Tyson Chavez, Daniel Estada, Nathan Hollenbaugh, Jaden Meija, and Tyler Davies were opening huge holes all day long for the Charger running backs. Early in the second quarter Mike Brown sprinted 19 yards for the Chargers third score of the day. After Raul Franco’s kick the Chargers took a commanding 21-0 lead.
The El Toro defense was suffocating all day long. Milo Pina led the D with a couple of bone jarring hits as they did not allow a Wolverine first down until mid-way through the fourth quarter. The front seven were equally as dominating throughout the contest.
Jolliffe added two touchdown runs in the second quarter to give the Chargers a 37-0 halftime lead.
The Chargers still turned the ball over twice and will need to clean that up going forward but this was the most complete performance since week #1 of the season. The Chargers will be on the road next week as they travel to Capo Valley for another Sea View League tilt.
