Tinsley & Sherman at WSU

Posted by EL TORO FOOTBALL at Apr 24, 2017 4:07PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Former El Toro standouts Trey Tinsley (QB) and Dillon Sherman (LB), who are now proud Washington State Cougars, are getting after it in spring football camp in the Northwest. Chargers nation is proud of them as they play in the Pac-12 for Mike Leach’s team. The Chargers were also represented by a 3rd Cougar, Kaleb Fossum, who was a standout kick and punt return specialist and wide receiver for the Cougs. Kaleb has transferred to Nevada and will use his talent to help the Wolfpack in big ways now. These 3 Chargers will meet together again when Washington St plays Nevada at Martin Stadium on Saturday, September 23. Charger fans will be watching that one proudly!

Dixie State Lands Romo

Posted by EL TORO FOOTBALL at Apr 9, 2017 9:25PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Trailblazers head coach Shay McClure added a hard hitting linebacker to his roster this week when El Toro’s Tyler Romo committed to Dixie State University. One of Orange County’s best linebackers, Romo made a reputation of creating nightmares for opposing quarterbacks and running backs, and in so doing racked up some impressive numbers during his 3 years on the varsity football field. Romo finished his high school career with 149 total tackles including a total of 17 sacks and hurries combined (see statistical summary below). Tyler not only excelled on the football field but also duplicated that success in the classroom. As an honor student and multiple Academic Torch Award winner, Tyler proved himself as a man who has the inner character and discipline to excel in all areas of life. As he gets ready to relocate all of this talent to St. George, Utah for the Trailblazers he will no doubt have an impact on their defense in years to come and be a force in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. As a Charger he lived up to all the traditions and high standards of El Toro football, and now Romo reaps the rewards of his hard work as he moves on to play collegiate athletics and earn his degree. It’s a proud day in Charger nation!

Remembering Coach Beatie

Posted by EL TORO FOOTBALL at Mar 21, 2017 9:06PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The El Toro football family is saddened to announce the passing of Richard Beatie, coach and educator. The Chargers Offensive Coordinator died on March 17th at home after a severe health battle emerged earlier this year. He was, and will always be, a beloved figure in the El Toro community. Coach Beatie was a man who was dedicated to impacting the lives of young people. His steady handed and even keeled approach gave confidence to his players and unleashed them to perform at their highest level. As we grieve together and mourn the loss of one of our own, let us remember all the good that came from the life of coach Beatie, and be thankful for having had him grace our lives. He indeed will be missed.

…At this time we keep Coach Beatie’s wife and family in our thoughts and prayers.
